The Miami Blue Chapter, NABA is excited to announce that our speaker for our February 5 meeting will be Frank Ridgley, DVM, Conservation and Research Department, Zoo Miami, Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces. His topic will be about the new habitat the zoo is creating to house threatened butterflies as a reservoir for future release. Join us at 1 pm on Sunday, February 5. Come early to see if plants donated to Castellow have been effective attracting butterflies to their garden.

“A Walk on the Wild Side” by Laura de Ara (Interpretive Program Leader), will lead a guided tour of Castellow Hammock. Take a tour of our garden and nature trail to find out which butterflies are active each season and what attracts them. Learn how to plant a garden of your own, what you can do to assist local parks and how you can play a role in saving our pollinators from extinction. Join her for a guided tour at Castellow Hammock offered every first Sunday of the month from 11:30-1 pm. There will be a fee for this walk of 4$ per person, funds going to Castellow Hammock.
