Pre-season Schaus’ Swallowtail Butterfly Meeting

March 28, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Once again, this year the Miami Blue Chapter is assisting the Florida State Park Service by surveying Key Largo looking for the Schaus’ Swallowtail.  Join park staff and volunteers walking the serene trails of north Key Largo.  The pre-season meeting will be held on March 28 at 7 pm at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.  Scott Tedford, who is the District Biologist for the Bureau of Parks, Florida Park Service will introduce a special guest speaker, Matt Standridge from the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera & Biodiversity, University of Florida.  We’ll also go over routes, survey methods and procedures which are important for new and returning volunteers.  Scott feels that it is important that we attend.  Scott plans to begin the surveys in April.

If you have not joined us in the past, it is great fun, great exercise and really great company with fellow nature lovers.  Contact Scott Tedford at:  Scott.Tedford@dep.state.fl.us

These surveys will be conducted in April, May and June.  Come join us!
