Ana Alexandra Rojas

Our guest speaker on August 3rd is Ana Alexandra Rojas, whose presentation will be “Deering Estate’s Propagation Station and Native Pollinator Project“.

Summary: Ana Alexandra Rojas, Conservation and Research Specialist at Deering Estate, will present an exciting new initiative—the Propagation Station and Native Pollinator Project—to the North American Butterfly Association’s Miami Blue Chapter. This collaborative project, launched in partnership with FIU’s Landscape Architecture students, aims to restore native habitats across the public areas of the Deering Estate while educating visitors about the importance of pollinators and South Florida’s unique ecosystems. By cultivating native nectar, fruiting, and host plants, the project not only supports butterflies, bees, and birds but also empowers the public to take conservation home by providing resources to start their own backyard pollinator gardens. This presentation will highlight the project’s design, ecological goals, community impact, and how NABA members can support or get involved in this growing conservation effort.
