Join us for our second occasional event–Butterfly and Bird Day.
Volunteer a shift or the day to help at Miami Blue’s informational table, in the butterfly garden, and facilitating the many tasks that will make this event a success; We are planning for 500 visitors, so we need your help. Sign up at the November chapter meeting, or contact Jaeson Clayborn.
Early-Bird Walk at 7:30 w/ Brian Rapoza, Tropical Audubon Society. Bring binoculars!
Ongoing (9:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Exhibits in the nature center (except during presentations)
- Wings Over Florida – Get started by identifying butterflies at Castellow Hammock!
- Children’s activities & crafts
- Information tables – learn about • butterflies & caterpillars • birds & other wildlife • live birds & bird rescue • pollinator hotels • native plants • natural areas • national Parks • environmental issues • gardening for butterflies & birds and more
- Plant vendors (cash or check; plant holding area available – shop, then stay to enjoy the day)
- Enjoy the park on your own – butterflies, hummingbirds, cool plants in a peaceful place.
- Food & drinks available for purchase – or bring your own.
Walks – meet in front of the nature center
- 10:15, 11:15, 12:15, 1:30, 2:30 – Nature Walk in the garden & grounds (1/2 hour). Discover insects, birds and plants on an easy stroll with Miami Blue members
- 10:30, 12:30, 2:00 – Hammock Walk (1/2 hour) with Miami-Dade Parks staff. The path is rough – wear sturdy shoes.
