Twin-spot Skipper
Oligoria is a genus of butterflies in the family Hesperiidae. It contains only one species, the twin-spot skipper which is found in the United States along the coast of North Carolina south through Florida and west along the Gulf Coast to east Texas.
The undersides of the wings are reddish-brown. There are three highly contrasting white spots on the hindwing. Two of these spots are so close that they almost touch, thus the name “Twin-spot”. The underside of the forewing has a couple of smaller translucent white spots visible. The upperside of the wings are dark brown, with four translucent spots on the forewing. The upperside of the hindwing is without spots.
Wingspan: 1¼ to 1¾ inches (3.5 – 4.2 cm).
