DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a morning butterfly walk at the Doc Thomas + Steinberg Nature Center led by Dennis Olle from the Miami Blue Chapter of NABA. \nAbout this event\n\n\nExplore the beautiful world of butterflies and learn easy ways to identify them by sight as you spend time exploring this rare pine rockland and hardwood hammock of South Miami. If you’re lucky\, you’ll see a Gulf Fritillary\, Zebra Heliconian\, Monarch and many more butterflies to brighten your day. \nYou’ll also discover more about the life cycle of butterflies\, where they live\, and why they’re so important to the environment. Plus\, find out what particular trees\, shrubs\, and flowers butterflies enjoy and how the North American Butterfly Association is working to ensure our butterfly population flourishes. \nDennis truly is a butterfly expert so make sure you come prepared with all the questions you’ve ever wanted to ask about these beautiful insects. \nThis is a family-friendly\, casual walk and talk. There will be plenty of stopping to observe\, take photographs\, and ask questions. Sensible footwear for rockland walking is required – no summer sandals. Dress for the weather and don’t forget your sunblock and a bottle of water. \nThis is a free event\, but registration is required.
