SUMMARY:Miami Blue Chapter 2023 Quarterly Meeting Q3
DESCRIPTION:The Miami Blue Chapter of NABA will be holding their 3rd Quarterly Meeting of 2023 on Sunday\, August 6th\, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm\, and will be held at The Deering Estate. A social gathering begins at 12:30 pm\, and the program and zoom meeting begins at 1:00 pm. \nOur guest speaker will be Roger L. Hammer\, whose presentation will be “Pine Rocklands – A Globally Imperiled Plant Community” \nBrief abstract: Pine Rocklands once covered the Miami Rock Ridge but development and agriculture have reduced the original 185\,000 acres in southern Miami-Dade County to less than 2% of its original coverage. This program focuses on the plants that make up this important plant community\, and the wildlife they support. \nRoger will also have his books available for purchase (cash or check only). \nThis meeting will be in-person and also live-streamed via Zoom.
