DESCRIPTION:The Miami Blue Chapter is joining the Dade Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society for Native Plant Day at Bill Sadowski Park on Saturday\, March 19\, 2016 from 9 am to 4 pm.  There will be Activities for all ages\, programs and nature walks\, hands-on activities\, plant sales and raffles. Learn about native plants\, landscaping\, water conservation\, “bad insects”\, butterflies\, seeds\, wildflowers\, wood-turning and lots more.  Miami Blue Chapter will host a table with information on butterflies\, caterpillars and their special plants. \nDrinks and food will be available for purchase\, cash only.  Early Birding walk at 8 am.  Bring binoculars. \nLet us know if you can help cover our table: email Linda Evans lmemia@aol.com.

SUMMARY:Schaus' Swallowtail Butterfly Monitoring Training
DESCRIPTION:Schaus’ Swallowtail surveys in Key Largo are presently being scheduled. If you would like to join us\, you will need to attend a pre-season training meeting.  It is being held at 7 PM on Thursday\, March 24 at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.  We are looking for volunteers to commit at least 1 day per week between early April and late June to help Search for the endangered Schaus’ Swallowtail Butterfly in North Key Largo.  It is lots of fun walking in the beautiful hardwood hammock with many very interesting fellow participants. \nContact Scott Tedford at:  scott.tedford@dep.state.fl.us

SUMMARY:Shark Valley NABA Count
DESCRIPTION:Join the Miami Blue Chapter for one of our annual NABA Counts at Shark Valley.  This is a magnificent time of year to visit the wilderness of Shark Valley. We usually find butterflies not seen elsewhere in South Florida.  Meet in the Shark Valley Visitors Center parking lot at 9 am. We will walk the western side searching for the rare Berry’s Skipper which has been seen there in the past.  We will then drive to L67 to search  for Palmetto and Palatka Skippers.  Come walk with experts to learn new butterflies. \nBring long sleeved shirts and pants and hat for sun protection and possibly mosquitoes; water\, a bag lunch and binoculars. \nContact Linda Evans with any questions:  lmemia@aol.com \nPlease email Linda Evans to let her know you are coming.
