Jaret C. Daniels, Ph.D.

Our guest speaker on February 2nd, 2025 will be Jaret C. Daniels, Ph.D., whose presentation will be “Updates on the conservation of key at-risk butterflies in Florida.”

Dr. Daniels will provide information on his lab’s current conservation efforts related to several at-risk Florida butterfly taxa including the Miami blue, Schaus’ swallowtail, frosted elfin, Bartram’s scrub-hairstreak, and North American monarch.

Bio: Jaret C. Daniels is a Curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History’s McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity and Professor in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of Florida.  An entomologist by training, he specializes in the ecology and conservation of at-risk butterflies and other native insect pollinators. His lab works across many different landscapes from wild lands and farmscapes to roadsides and suburban yards in an effort to develop best insect conservation and management practices.
