bio: Volunteer for Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park 2007-present with over 12,000 hours, volunteer for Crocodile Lake NWR 2014-present, self-taught naturalist (with lots of help), volunteer in the Islamorada Area Parks including the Villages’ 5 parks, also Lignumvitae Key, Windley Key, Long Key State Park, Curry Hammock and Bahia Honda SP doing shorebird surveys, growing restoration plants and plantings. I also work with endangered plant species as the Assistant Nursery Manager at the nursery in JPCRSP. I work with Fairchild to help reintroduce endangered species whose losses have been caused by rising sea levels and lead scientists and interns to locations within Dagny and JP in the process of learning about rare and endangered plant species. I give monthly walks and talks for the Village of Islamorada and twice weekly walks within J Pennekamp trails through subtropical hardwood hammocks from October through March. I am on the board of Friends of John Pennekamp Coral Reef SP and Dagny Johnson SP and treasure my moments in the natural world of South Florida and the Florida Keys.
“My goal is to increase my knowledge of the flora and fauna of the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park and to share it with the general public through walks and talks to increase responsible stewardship of our natural resources.”
