The Calderon Pineland Restoration Project will be holding a tour of the approximately 15 acres of globally imperiled pine rockland habitat. The site is the location of a restoration project led by the joint effort of the Miami-Dade County EEL program, the conservation team of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (Fairchild), The Institute for Regional Conservation (IRC), the national organization of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) and The Miami Blue Chapter of NABA.The tour will be of a restoration site and will also coincide with a planting of islands per the recommendation of IRC with locally grown plant material. The exciting experience is to see first hand world class restoration techniques, interact with volunteers, gain exposure to environmental education process and participate in multi-stakeholder restoration and collaboration.
